CLIENT SPEAK :
QED42 has done a great job of executing my vision for Getcomparisons. Despite being physically located on different continents, work-flow has been smooth and largely bottle-neck free. Although the QED42 team's experience was largely in Drupal, my preference was for Ruby on Rails, and they transitioned to this technology seamlessly. I have worked largely with Madhu on this project and he has been like a team-member rather than a consultant. The team doesn't just execute given tasks, they find the best possible solution because they take pride in their work. From a technical and execution standpoint, I highly recommend QED42 to anyone looking to get development work done.
-- Akshay Arabolu, Founder, Getcomparisons.
Getcomparisons is a user generated comparison platform that lets users find and create meaningful comparisons. Akshay ( founder of getcomparisons ) contacted us with the idea in its early phase and we connected with the idea instantly as we ourselves longed for a one stop place to find comparisons while making every day decisions. Getcomparisons has come a long way since then and we are proud to be associated with execution of that idea into reality, some of the features that makes getcomparisons exciting:
- Ability to view and add comparisons by context, its NOT one size fit all comparison platform.
- It allows to view comparisons both quantitatively and subjectively.
- End users can review the comparisons which lets good content shine.
- Same comparison could look different on basis of context and user perspective. If you are not happy with a comparison, you can create your own.
- Users can request for comparisons they wish to see.
- Effective "vs" search functionality
- Good comparisons and authors get rewarded, there is game dynamics in the platform.
Getcomparisons is probably the best example of our "there is no silverbullet" philosophy, as we were approached for drupal consultancy but after careful evaluation we went with ruby on rails as the choice of technology stack. Some of the technical highlights of the project:
- Cloud enabled development, making sure all our static and user uploaded assets run off a CDN.
- Sphinx to power comparison search as it allowed us to plug our own scoring criterias.
- Integration of Omniauth with Authlogic to provide for native and social logins.
- Delayed jobs for most of the events like emails, image upload to cloud etc
- Used Postmark for "Email as a service", to avoid maintaining our own mail server.
- Long stable workflows within modal windows. (Check out image search in comparison creation)
We used Pivotal tracker for project management and to prioritize features and chores, used skype and phone for audio and video communication and github for source code management.Visual design for getcomparisons was done by nice folks at spook studio. All in all our experience with getcomparisons and akshay has been amazing so far and we wish both lots of success ahead.
